a BIG family vacation!

We had a wonderful time with a BIG family vacation with my side of the family in Florida. I have 5 siblings so that made for 28 of us gathering together on the beach. We were missing three of us and really wished they could have joined us. The time was spent on the beach and in the pool. We had tons of jelly fish and our share of stings. We also had two days of only getting into the ocean to our hips due to a tropical storm that his two states away. We had amazing weather, wonderful food and a great time visiting and catching up with family. My family traveled from Chicago, Kansas City, Naples, Cincinnati and Mexcio to be there. Asher woke the next day after we had gotten home and said, "where are MY BOYS?" meanings all his boy cousins he hung out with all week. Although, my brother has the all together family pictures (that I haven't gotten yet, hint, hint) here are some smaller groups of my family.

Move That Bus! Move That Bus! Move that bus...

This post written by guest blogger - Caroline

Home Extreme Makeover was near our area this week. We decided to at least try it and see how long everyone would last in the extreme heat of 95 degrees. :) This was the last day and we hoped we would get to see the family come home. Needless to say it was very crowded. (See below)

What was kind of fun to see the behind the scenes of how they made the show. For example when the family comes home they have to focus on getting all the shots of the family's reaction so before the limo even got there the camera crew got 5 shots of the crowd chanting "Move that bus! move that bus! move that bus!" They also got multiple shots of the bus pulling away. We also got to see Ty from a distance.

Even though it was hot, sweaty and we were in the very back of the crowd, it was kind of fun to be in the action. At one point when we were starting to get to the end of our rope, Paul (a member of the design team) got on a mega phone and told every on that the family would be home in 2 minutes. The whole place erupted. However, it wasn't until 45 minutes later that the limo pulled down the street. Due to many filed complains within the 45 minitues Mom decided that we would stay till the big Move That Bus moment.

It is supposed to air the second week of the new season. (some day in October) I doubt we'll be seen, but you should hear our voices!

someone was very tired

Forever Day!!! #2

Today two year ago we brought Asher home from Ethiopia. The day was full of tears, joy, love and to be honest lots of spinning on my part from the LONG travel. Fun with Far Away Friends!

We had so much fun with some awesome friends that came into town and stopped to visit with us. I met Shelley two years ago when we went to ET to pick up our kids. We so wish we lived closer and this could be a weekly event. We went to play in the park. Her kids are so wonderfully made with different personalities and they all seemed to enjoy their time together sooo much. My kids couldn't stop quoting their new friends and reliving the moment. Thanks, for the pick me up Shelley!

Blue Ribbon Day!

Abby recently had a horse show and earned her first blue ribbon. Here is her trail (blue ribbon) ride and some photos of the day! She sure loves to ride and Serenity did a wonderful job as well. Besides her horsemanship, walk trout and trail entries, Abby was able to join in the games this time as well. She rode with an egg in a spoon, an apple under her neck and tried to be the first to drink her baby bottle while riding. All in all a fun day of riding!

Birthdays Celebrated

What do you do when your birthday falls during the time of year that everyone is out of town on vacation or busy celebrating Christmas? Well, you just move your birthday so you can actually HAVE guests at your party. That is what we did for Caleb and Abby this year. We usually celebrate with friends every other year and this year was a friends party year. So we put the parties together and went to PUMP IT UP! It is a party place where you can jump on all kinds of fun blow up things like slides and obstical courses and all. I forgot my camera but my great friend posted her pictures here. So Happy 9 1/2 Caleb and Happy early birthday, Abby!

Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo. . .

The weather called for rain but we missed it all at the zoo. Asher has been asking A LOT lately to go to the zoo and see the tigers. When we pulled into the parking lot he said,

"No, I don't want to go to the zoo. I'm scared of tigers!"

Go figure. We saw the tigers, polar bears, giraffes (my favorite), and many other wonderful animals. We had a great time and Asher loved his first time at the zoo so we bought a pass and we'll be back.

Sorry that I've been such a lame blogger lately. I've got lots of catching up to do. So stay tuned for a belayed Father's Day, a driving range outing, kayaking and many more.

Kids Against Hunger!

Do you ever just want to do something for the hungry children of this world? I'm found an incredible tangible way that you and I can do this? Not only through donations but also through volunteering! This organization is coming to our area. It is called Kids against Hunger and this branch of it will open in July.

Kids Against Hunger food packets are a specially formulated rice-soy casserole that nourishes starving children and their families in nearly 40 countries. The Kids Against Hunger network currently includes over 30 food packaging satellites across the United States and one in Canada. We are proud to announce that A Child's Hope International has been approved as a licensee for Kids Against Hunger in the greater Cincinnati area.

These simple ready to eat meals are a revolutionary food package that has been developed by some of the world's leading food scientists at Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills and ADM. Just one package provides six nutritionally-complete servings to feed starving children around the world as well as the hungry here at home, and all for the low cost of 25 cents per serving.
In 2007, the Kids Against Hunger feeding network has shipped food to 38 countries.
You can be involved by donating or volunteering your time to pack food to ship. I really feel like this would benefit Ethiopia so much at this time but I need to find the right connections to make this happen. I'm praying that we can get this worked our to ship to ET. Right now this satalite plans on shipping the packets to Haiti, Swalizland and Appalacha, KY. We can't wait to start getting involved to help feed the hungry children of the US and ALL over the world!
