Makes you wonder when. . .

you show up at the sledding hill at 10:00am and no one else is around and it is littered with popped blow up toboggins, pieces of plastice saucers and other litter. I was starting to wonder how safe it was to sled ride. BUT, it was great and we had a beautiful time having the hill to ourselves up until the very end. With the ice and then extra layer of snow we had gotten it made for a great ride and fun was had by ALL!

Yes, Asher is being pulled up with the sled.

The bike path behind our house had lots of trees

bent over by the ice making sledding back here a wonderful challenge.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

After 2 days of snow, ice and then snow again, these are some pictures of the snow day fun we've been having lately. We've been sled riding, funnel cake making (and delivering to the neighbors), sewing projects, reading books and yes, even watching some tv. It's been great having everyone home and enjoying some winter fun and God's amazing beauty.

He ate more snow then I've shoveled.

Ice chunks make it hard to create snowmen.

Winter Fun Ewing style

It has been quite cold here for a while and this was the one weekend (maybe we'll get lucky for another) this winter that our local lake froze over and we could go skating. We don't live on this lake but would love to some day. :)
Gotta do the work to prepare the ice

Lots of people were out on the ice

The ice was smooth as glass

THANKFUL FOR little things

It sure is cold enough her (windchill below zero) and I LOVE snow but we will be thankful to have a little and even Asher found a few things to do with our dusting. But I'm hanging on the fact that February could be our snow month! - Maybe!

We have a new photographer in our family. Abby got a camera for Christmas and loves to use it. Here is a sample of her first photos. She will be the guest photographer on my blog from time to time and maybe it will become a regular thing. I love how she is the subject of most of her photos as a photographer! She has realized that she has a timer on her camera and is asking for her August birthday a tri-pod.

New Room for the New Year

The old look in our FR Another old look

Some of the new looks New Galley FR
For years we've been trying to arrange our family room into a comfortable room. It's very long and rectangular and narrow. This makes arranging furniture rather interesting. We have our computer dest in there, it's a play room on this floor so Asher's toys are in there and we gather there to play games, watch TV and enjoy the fire place in the winter. So, I think we finally got the room to work - atleast for now! If you have ANY suggestions or ideas, I'm ALWAYS open to help cause I'm not a good decorater.

Back to regular programing

Well, almost. Let's go back and catch up a little. I totally took a break from blogging with last 10 days or so. We celebrated Caleb's birthday, had my side of the family in town the weekend before Christmas for a family gathering and then had Brad's family (brother and sister-in-law and Uncle, Aunt and cousin) in for Christmas and a few days after Christmas. Much fun was had by all and I will fill you in on pictures.

One Christmas note. Do you ever key into one character in the nativity story? When I was pregnant it was always Mary, for some reason I've focused on Joseph and even the three kings and Elizabeth. This year God brought to my attention the Shepherds. Maybe it is because Asher, if he was home in ET would grow up to be shepherd most likely or maybe it was just time for shepherds but I'm so amazed at how God included these humble souls. They were out casts in their towns and considered lowly. I'm sure they knew what it was like to feel lonely and scared. I'm amazed that they got up and left immediately in full belief that what had been told them was truth. They entered town and I'm not sure how often that happened for them or how comfortable they were about it. But I can imagine that they had a sense of comfort entering the stable though in total awe of the Messiah lying in a manger.

They acting in total faith without hestitation. Man, I can learn some big lessons from the Shepherds. How many times am I wondering what others are thinking or if I fit into a situation that God has asked me to enter into? Too many to count. I pray that now and into 2009 I can have the kind of faith of a shepherd.

Here is what we've been doing for the last few weeks.
